The Cultural Advocacy Coalition announced the election of officers and new board members for 2014.
Portland Center Stage Artistic Director, Chris Coleman has been elected President of the Cultural Advocacy Coalition. Kerry Tymchuk, Executive Director of the Oregon Historical Society was re-elected Vice President. Tina Rinaldi, Managing Director at the University of Oregon Arts & Administration Program and the Center for Community Arts & Cultural Policy, was elected Secretary. Janeanne Upp, Past President of the High Desert Museum in Bend was re-elected Treasurer.
New members to the Board of Directors include Adam Davis, Executive Director of Oregon Humanities and Jeff Hawthorne, Director of Community Affairs for the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
“The State is at a very interesting moment in time,” Board President Chris Coleman said. “After the success of PERS Reform and a movement toward greater investment in education last session, there are big conversations around the State about what our future can look like on several fronts. The time seems ripe to ask big questions about what role the State should play in strengthening the Arts and Culture of the region.”
The Cultural Advocacy Coalition is a nonpartisan 501(c)4, formed to lobby in Salem for policies and funding that will create a thriving environment for art, heritage, history and the humanities across Oregon.
